Search for a West End Star - rules of entry

Everything you need to know about entering SEARCH FOR A WEST END STAR.

Eligibility 

  1. Both full and partial members of the www.b-live.com are allowed to enter the competition.
  2. Entrants must be aged between 11 and 18 years old.
  3. Both full and partial members of the www.b-live.com are allowed to enter the competition. 4. Entries from students under 11 years or over 18 years at the time of entry will not be eligible.
  4. Entrants are permitted to enter one of three categories: 
  • Category one – 11-12 years
  • Category two – 13-15 years
  • Category three – 16-18 years. 

Entry

  1. Singers are required to email a video of their performance to wicked@b-live.com. The email must also include their full name, date of birth, school year and school name, title of song and musical taken from, category you wish to enter, and contact email in the body of the message.
  2. All entries must be received via email by Friday 6th July 2012 at midnight.
  3. All entrants will receive confirmation of their entry into SEARCH FOR A WEST END STAR by Monday 16th July 2012. Those entrants who do not receive confirmation must email their entry again to the b-live editorial team at lisa@b-live.com as soon as possible. 
  4. Entries emailed after the competition closing date will not be considered.
  5. Entries must be of decent quality (both audio and visual) and feature only one person (the entrant) performing.
  6. Entries must be in either one of the following formats; avi, mpg, mov, wmv, mp4 or m4v.
  7. Entrants must be seen/heard performing a song from a West End show. The show does not have to be currently running in the West End and it is not compulsory that the song is well-known. Click here to view song suggestions.

Judging process

  1. After the competition closing date, The b-live Foundation will create a shortlist for each of the three competition categories (five entries per category). Shortlisted candidates will be informed of the decision via email.
  2. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit 200 words on their performing arts experience and ambitions.
    The cast of the award-winning musical WICKED will judge the shortlisted entries and select one winner from each category and an overall winner.

The prize

The ‘wickedly good’ prize for the overall winner consists of:

  • *Four tickets to see the spellbinding WICKED at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre, and one night’s complimentary accommodation for four people at the hotel The Rubens at the Palace, the official hotel partner of WICKED, together with a pre-theatre three-course carvery dinner, and a full English breakfast
  • A professional singing lesson
  • Nationwide promotion by The b-live Foundation and WICKED
  • A trophy and certificate of achievement. 

Runners-up from each category will receive a family ticket (4 tickets) to see WICKED.
